Bold Lighting

One of my fave tips for living small with style is creating a neat lighting design in your home to add balance and scale. You'd be surprised with what a little be of extra lighting can add depth to your home. I also like the idea of using a bold lighting accent in a small space. You can have tons of small lamps and lights but go big in your main room. I spotted this sweet chandelier at Tuvula in Laguna Beach and love the shape - kind of a modern day crystal ball. Like using your walls, adding a design element overhead will draw the eye up and add the feeling of more space. All small space dwellers like that!

Ideal Home for small office

many of us are working from home these days and creating a functional yet cool office environment is important. when creating your space, remember to create it in a zone. now this doesn't mean that you have to block your work station off in some random area because there happens to be a little extra space there. Instead consider  incorporating  your office into your layout.  do this by doubling your desk. I am loving this desk from Pottery Barn because of it's scale (and it looks nice too) It's big enough to be a desk and I can also see it as a side table to a couch or bed. now you have a dedicated workspace and also a piece to connect your room's layout.

Home office ideas for a small space

As I have mentioned, rooms are usually used for multiple things when living in a small space. One common room that is recreated within another room is the home office. In a 1-bdrm space, there are many ways to recreate this space that is not only useful but stylish.

In our space, we decided to turn our eat-in-kitchen into an office (pictured at top). We used our wine bar turned kitchen prep table also into an office desk/bookcase. We simply took out the wineracks to create a bookcase. This one piece of furniture offers tons of uses plus it's sleek and compact. Another great bar (and currently on sale) is the Liam Bar at World Market.

Also check out The Container Store's elfa units. Incredibly functional and available in a range of options, make your own office as big or small was you want or need. I also love the idea of creating a home office out of bookshelves. I found this concealed office idea in Martha Stewart Living.
